Hi friends, I would like to review a book which I read the last month.

I have read a few of Paulo Coelho’s books. This is one of my favourite books.

Veronika is the girl, though she has everything in her life, she decided to die.

One day she ate too many sedative pills to kill herself. But she did not die. On the next day, she woke up in a local hospital. The doctor told her, though you are alive, your heart is irreparably damaged so you can survive only a few days.

So many mentally ill people also were in the hospital. Veronika met a few people in the hospital and had a relationship with them. Especially with Zedika, Mari, and Eduard. Each of the three people also had an interesting life story. Through their story, they shared how they find out the meaning of their life in the hospital.

Veronika found the meaning of her life when her days are numbered. When her days are numbered, she considered each day of her existence as a miracle.

My favourite quotes from this book:

  • An awareness of death encourages us to live more intensely.
  • The danger of an adventure is worth a thousand days of ease and comfort.
  • And it’s nothing to do with what you can see happening in my body, it’s what is happening in my soul.
  • She didn’t struggle and so she didn’t grow.
  • People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for themselves.
  • The best way to avoid trouble is to share responsibility.
  • If people don’t like it, they can complain. And if they don’t have the courage to complain, that’s their problem.
  • After all, diplomacy is also the art of postponing decisions until the problem resolve themselves.
  • You are deceiving yourself, running away from reality.
  • She would consider each day a miracle, which indeed it is, when you consider the number of unexpected things that could happen in each second of our fragile existences.

Thank you for reading. Have a nice day!
